How It All Started…

I never imagined my life would take such a turn.


I was an award-winning research scientist and engineer, proud of my work but struggling with back pain from too much computer time.

Everything changed when my family moved to a remote Northern First Nation reserve, where fresh produce was scarce and costly. Wanting better food for my family and community, I began experimenting with indoor gardens.

Using my research skills, I designed systems to grow organic food year-round. It was trial and error, but every green sprout brought hope. I studied bio-intensive, no-till farming to nurture healthy soil and grow food without chemicals.

That’s when I fell completely in love with growing food regardless of the weather — and realized this was my true calling.

Today, I use the same scientific curiosity that once guided my engineering career to help others grow their food all year round. I teach complex concepts in simple, joyful ways so that gardening feels accessible to everyone — whether you’re planting your very first seed or expanding the gardening seasons to harvest under the snow.

Because when you grow your own food using organic methods, you’re not just cultivating plants — you’re cultivating confidence, freedom, and connection with nature.

When It Finally Clicked, Everything Changed.

Just when I thought my career path was set in stone, life planted a seed I never saw coming.

I had built a successful scientific career — but when I moved to a Northern First Nation reserve, something inside me shifted.

At first, it was just about finding a way to feed my family better. I started experimenting and quickly realized this was about more than just food — it was about independence, resilience, and hope for my children’s future.

Then, one day, it clicked.

All the skills I’d honed as a scientist — observation, experimentation, problem-solving — could be used to push the limitations of gardening. I developed my own method for growing organic food indoors and researched how to extend the gardening seasons, and suddenly everything made sense.

If I could grow real, nourishing food in the middle of a northern winter, anyone could.

That realization changed the course of my life.

Today, I help others do exactly that — grow their own food using organic methods, no matter where they live or what the weather looks like outside. Because when you take control of your food, you take control of your future and teach your kids and grandkids to become more resilient. And now, I show others how to reclaim control over their food and their futures.
